As it turns out, dead owl water is good water. It even tasted good. I had enough to get me around Antelope Mtn (not a volcano after all) and almost to the public water cache at the Freeman Rd Trailhead. I arrived with just steam in my water bottles but there was plenty waiting for me. I drank a liter and a half, unloaded my garbage on some horseback riders, and took a nap on the water box. Relaxing! I headed down the AZT again after 3:00. The whole afternoon was good hiking weather. It seems like it cooled down from the morning.
