I got a better look at d=rt's backpack this morning. he made it himself in true ultralight fashion. It's delightful. I gave it Hardcore's Seal of Approval.

Today was another rollercoaster. I was hiking the Divide above 12,000 ft for just about the whole day. Speaking of elevation, the CT reached it's highest point, 13,271 ft below Coney Summit. I dropped my pack near there and hiked up to the summit to have a look around. That was while the weather was still nice.

On the other side of Carson Saddle and it's mining remains the weather turned ugly. I was hiking up the Lost Trail drainage toward a small pass when the clouds and thunder moved in around me. For a long time I was in a sweet spot behind the storm with rain all around but not on top of me. As I reached the pass that changed. I got hit with rain and wind and ahead of me the storm and lightning were blocking my route. I had to keep moving slow because I didn't want to catch up to the lightning in the exposed terrain. Eventually I made it down to Cataract Lake and wouldn't you know it, the rain stopped once I picked a spot for my tent. I hope I can dry my clothes in the morning.
