Our friend has let the rope drag his shirt into the carabiner. Doh! That is a *very* uncomfortable position to hang. For no less than one half hour he tried to free himself before I lowered my ubiquitous Spyderco Delica (see knife page) down to him on kite string. Another fifteen minutes later, his tattered sweatshirt lay in the sludge forty feet below and his descent continued. Little bro worked a good belay, and he did not plummet after removing the shirt. I still cannot believe someone did not call Fire Rescue as an apartment building overlooks this cliff and we had at least two people in the audience. Unfortunately, my brother has the rest of the pictures of this humorous predicament. |
