13 April 2007: day 63
Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
Folk Art Center Shut-in Trail 13.8 / 788.1

Another easy dayhike south on the MST. Basically I would be walking from northeast of town around Asheville to the southside. Because the mountains are less rugged in this area there is a lot of development and highways. This is also where the French Broad River cuts through the landscape.

The hike was a quick one through woods, pastures, and longside development. The trail was almost flat by comparison. I finished up by crossing the French Broad (by bridge thankfully) and making it to the trailhead for the Shut-In Trail. This is right off the Parkway near the entrance to the North Carolina Arboretum. It is also where the mountains become more rugged. Moving on from here will be much harder.

Tonight back at the house I cooked some paella. David and Deanne were both excited to try it and bought a paella pan special. It was another evening of cooking an wine drinking. This turned out well and David is planning his own paella experiments.

Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and I'm not sure what I am doing.
