I'm writing this the next morning while my Ramen is cooking. I was too tired yesterday. I stopped at the last good camping with water before San Luis Pass. I'm back in the mountains and almost all of today was uphill though very gradual. I spent much of the day hiking up Cochetopa Creek. This is the same creek I camped above and hiked along yesterday. I've never seen so many beaver ponds. Along the way I met 2 girls from Ft Collins thruhiking the CT to Denver. They said there are a few small drifts remaining ahead. Fewer by the time I get to them I figure. Also they said Peaches and Pebbles were not far ahead. Maybe I'll catch up to them unless they plan on going into Creede. Then I'll pass them. I'm skipping both Creede and Lake City as resupply points because they aren't convenient. This 158 mile stretch is the farthest I've ever gone between supply points unless the second half of the John Muir Trail was longer. I don't think so though.

Anyway I made it up the valley and past the 14er San Luis Peak. Then the CT did a little up and down as it contoured around some valleys. I stopped before reaching San Luis Pass, my original destination, because the camping looked great here and wasn't as exposed. Chili Mac for dinner!
