Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
Rock Creek South of Twin Lakes 18.7 today / 179.1 total

I made up yesterday's missed miles and then some. 18.7 is a new record on this trip and it will probably stand for awhile. No snow at all on the trail today and less up and down allowed me to do bigger miles. It doesn't hurt that my pack is probably 10+ lbs lighter after leaving some snow/cold weather gear behind. I've decided not to take the snowshoes or gaitors any farther. I don't think the remaining snow south of here justifies carrying them the whole way.

I met 2 groups of thruhikers turned section hikers today. They both decided to skip around the CT some and/or do some 14ers. It felt good to be able to say that I've done all the sections so far. They were impressed. The 2nd group, Peaches, Pebbles, and an unnamed hiker (2 guys, 1 girl) were supposed to be camping around here but I'm not sure if they made it all the way or hiked by. My tent is a little hard to see in this spot. I put it up to dry it out but some clouds blew in so maybe there will be some rain.

The trail passed Mt Massive and Mt Elbert today. They are the 2nd and 1st highest in CO. I hiked up them some years ago. The CT even cuts through the trailhead I used on Elbert's. It brought back some memories.
