Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
Indian Creek Trailhead Bear Creek 6.8 today / 6.8 total

It feels good to be writing a journal entry from the trail. The last few days have been hectic and stress-filled. We didn't even hit the trail until 4:30 pm Sunday and that was a whole day later than planned.

Alana hiked halfway down the Indian Creek trail with me today. The sweet girl even carried my 37 pound backpack for the first mile. Incidentally that weight will decrease rapidly as I consume the MREs and wine. I don't know what the base weight is but without stove, pot, cup, and fuel it is a fair bit lower than normal. While I'm conscious of pack weight I'm not an what would be considered a lightweight backpacker.

Just discovered the first problem of the trip. I took a break from journal writing and when I restarted I found that my headlamp batteries are dead. This is surprising because I had checked it recently, but maybe it had gotten turned on accidentally. So I am writing this in the dark. I can't see what is on the page but I can tell what part of the page is still blank so that will do for now. I had other things to say but I guess that I'll make this a short entry. I want to get back to work on that wine anyway. Cheers.
