Triacastela - Barbadelo
19 November 2002
Day's km: 23
Overall km: 1034

This is the 6th straight day of rain. Five of them have been day-long rains. This coupled with the fact that an oil tanker wreck off the coast has turned the Galician coast into an oil slick means that I probably will not be walking to Finisterre after Santiago. The weather gives no indication of changing so why spend 3 more days in the rain to see a black ocean and dead animals on the beach?

I am in a refuge just outside of the village of Barbadelo. Alessandro, Adrianne, and Veronica never showed up. My guess is that they are in Sarria 4-5 km back. It is a small town with all services so is a good choice, but we all had talked about bunking here.

Only 2 others here tonight, Pierre and Satoe. Satoe has been a bit sick so took a short day and a day off to rest. She feels good now though. Pierre, originally, from France has lived all over and speaks excellent English. We all traded stories of pilgrims we have met and found out about who is where and with whom. Satoe and Pierre had very deep snow on O Cebriero.

I think I will take advantage of the situation and go to sleep early and leave early for a longer day. I do hope to see the girls and Alessandro again though.
