Estella - Los Arcos
28 October 2002
Day's km: 20
Overall km: 505

The alternative that seemed to close yesterday in actuallity was just right or even a bit far. For there was the Fuente de Vino between Estella and Los Arcos.

Many of us made loose plans to meet at the fountain of wine at 09:00. When we got there, the fountain at the bodega was deserted, and the wine was not flowing, but some persistant shouting from Pascal made wine flow from the stone. He is my Jesus. The three of us and three españoles spent three hours drinking wine and laughing. A lot of bad Spanish was spoken by half of us, but it did not seem to matter.

The remainder of the day was a bit fuzzy, but my Canadian and German friends accompanied me to Los Arcos. We, especially I, staggered for a few hours before eventually sobering up. I can't believe how long that hike took. I was shocked when we caught up to Satoe and she told us how much farther the albergue was.

It was an awesome day that ended with a great pile of rice and vegetables at the albergue. Jackie is the chef responisble for Pascal and I's repast.
