Happily I made it into charming Marciac without walking the whole time in rain. I spent maybe two hours in the rain and the rest of the time drying out. Looks like good weather for tomorrow's short walk to Maubourget.

Several interesting buildings today. Pouylebon had a 13th century fortified gatehouse, Sant-Christaud had an 11th century (reconstructed in 1250) brick church, Monlezun had the ruins of a château destroyed in 1590, and here in Marciac there is a historic square of arcaded shops and a church with the highest spire in Gers.

I am staying at the Hôtel Comté de Pardiac, a modern surprise reached right of the historic square. Unfortunately the restaurants had closed up by the time I started prowling for food at 19:00. I will enjoy the Spanish timetable more.
