Wow, today was genuinely enjoyable backpacking. It was cool with gusty winds that kept me mostly sweat-free and bugless. (I lost my headnet the other day and it was miserable) The trail was reasonably okay &em; easy to follow and didn't tear me up with thorns. There were some great views including to the north. I think I see the Mogollon Rim ahead and the San Francisco Peaks far in the distance. And I saw a snake swimming in a pool. I think it was a diamondback. My foot was good too though I was limping in the morning. It's been getting better each day.

I'm excited to be finishing the Mazatal Wilderness. This and the Four Peaks area has been exceptionally demanding. It isn't a great section to cross with tendonitis and holes in your water bottles.
