No luck with my half-hearted attempts at hitching this morning. After the brief hike out I was on the AZT hoping to avoid another 2.2 miles along the road to Oracle. I hiked to the Post Office and picked up my bounce box. While there a nice guy overheard me talking about places to stay and offered me a lift. Oracle is surprisingly spread out for a small town. He was friendly and helpful. He probably would have taken me around town on different errands. He dropped me off at the Chalet or the "teepees" as one townie called them. Very hiker friendly. Just down the road is Casa Riviera, a BYOB Mexican restaurant. I am so stuffed right now. I may or may not take a day off here. It's a little spread out here but very friendly. The past week or so I've been having some minor foot pain on the left so I should probably give it a rest. Oh today after I got my room, the owner came by and told me someone wanted to see me. It was Liz, aka La Zorra, who has been following my journal online (thanks Brian!). She's leaving a car here and starting the AZT at the border, walking here, taking a week off, then continuing. Good luck, and I hoe the water keeps flowing for you. |
