As the guidebook puts it, "Welcome back to the still heart of the desert scrubland." Even during early morning I was sweating as I descended the rest of the mountain. Then I lost my shade trees. Passage 10 of the AZT basically just takes the hiker from the Rincon Mountains to the Santa Catalina Mountains by way of rolling hills. Since yesterday the trail descended 5,000 ft. Some clouds provided momentary shade but it was short lived. I really don't have much more to say. I came, I saw, I hiked. There were two mountain bikers, some lizards, and a cow spotted today. Sleeping under the stars again tonight like always. This trail is a cowboy camper's delight. |
